Dice

Of course if you have an ordinary dice you can use that. When children are just learning to count and recognise numbers, starting with numbers up to 6 can be too difficult. There are ways of making dice simpler.

Circle Game

  • There is a circle like this in the pack to print out, cut out and use. Hold a paper clip in place with a pencil in the middle of the circle and flick the paper clip with your finger.

  • Write spots or numbers on pieces of paper. Put the pieces of paper in a box or bag. Put your hand in to choose a number.

Using playing cards

  • Use playing cards. Take out just the numbers you want to use. Put the cards in a pile and shuffle them. Take each card in turn from the pile.
